Several areas in Moorhead are being designated as no parking to accommodate the building of sandbag dikes beginning at 8 a.m. today.

The dikes will be built along the Red River near Rivershore Drive from Horn Park to 40th Avenue South. No parking will be allowed along that stretch of road, as well as these east-west avenues: 30th Avenue South, Valley Avenue, 32nd Avenue South, 37th Avenue South and 40th Avenue South to River Oaks Circle.

Other streets may be truck dumping areas and will also be closed to parking, including River Oaks Circle, Riverview Circle, 36th Avenue Circle South and the 37th Avenue and Rivershore Drive cul-de-sacs.

North Moorhead restrictions for clay dike building on the streets are 27th Avenue North and North River Drive.

Residents are discouraged from sightseeing in these areas. Volunteers should use the volunteer buses or other side streets, but not block residents’ driveways.
