FARGO - Hugs and hope were offered to the 200-some worshipers at Triumph West's church service this morning at the Ramada Plaza Suites in south Fargo.
"If there's ever a time God's people need to be praying, this is the time," the Rev. Vern Baardson said.
After a bleak week of rising flood levels that have devastated homes and strained the entire community, residents turned out today to search for some hope and optimism.
"It's just a traumatic time," said Fargo resident JoAnn Flanagan, who attended the service with her husband, Vern. "It just gives you a feeling of calm, peace."
Baardson offered encouragement and hope to the worshippers in a time when many may be questioning the fate of this community.
"But yet the promise of God says he is here with us," he said. "No matter what heaven and earth throw at us."
