MOORHEAD - The city of Moorhead has lifted the evacuation of Zone 1, the area south of Interstate 94 and west of Eighth Street/Highway 75, with the exception of River Oaks Point.

Residents were notified today via the Code Red system, the city said in a news release.

The conditions that led to the evacuation of Zone 1 – the risk of impassible streets, sanitary sewer backup and surface flooding from rising river levels – have improved, the release stated.

Currently, the river level is dropping and the city’s public infrastructure and Xcel Energy natural gas systems are stable and functioning, the release stated.

Evacuation advisories were lifted Monday for Zone 2 – the area north of Interstate 94 to Main Avenue and west of Eighth Street, except for the Woodlawn Point neighborhood – and for Zone 4, the Country Club Addition.

Those whose homes were damaged in any way are asked to contact the Moorhead Call Center at (218) 477-4747 to report damage. The city will schedule a property inspection to assess damage.

Residents should not enter any potentially unsafe areas or attempt to reconnect utilities themselves, the city said. If the home sustained no water or sewer damage but had electric, water or natural gas services shut off, residents are asked to call the call center to arrange to get utilities reconnected.

All residents within zones 1 and 2 should continue to keep their lower level drains plugged and conserve water use, the city said.
