Food for Guard warmed cold day

I just wanted to write to you to tell you about how this community really does pull together when times get tough.

On Friday, March 27, at about 7 p.m., I was at the bus stop at Kmart on South University. It was cold and the breeze made it cold to stand there and wait, but I did.

There were two National Guardsmen directing traffic, so I was watching them while I waited for the bus. As they waved the cars through the intersection, a little silver car pulled into the intersection and stopped. A gentleman in his 40s or 50s handed the guardsman a bag from McDonald’s and then proceeded on his way.

My heart just thumped hard and strong to know that there are people like that man in the silver car who care about what these guardsmen are doing for us here in Fargo. I hope that he reads this so he can hear and read the warm thank-you that I would like to tell him.

Your thoughtfulness in that situation was something I will never forget. By the way – those two National Guardsmen smiled and laughed. Thank you, sir.
