FEMA aid in Clay County tops $1.7 million

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved more than $1.7 million in housing and other assistance in Clay County.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved more than $1.7 million in housing and other assistance in Clay County.

The latest numbers from FEMA, released Saturday, show 951 registrants in Clay County.

More than $1.6 million has been issued for housing assistance, which can be used to repair and replace damaged structures, utilities, heating and ventilation, as well as to rent temporary housing. Other Needs Assistance, to replace personal property or other expenses, totals nearly $91,000.

While Disaster Recovery Centers have closed, registered applicants can call (800) 621-3362 or visit www.disasterassistance.gov.
