A 24-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to burglarizing a local hotel that was closed due to the flood fight and causing more than $1,000 in damage.

Daniel Orion Opgrand of Moorhead said his memory about the early morning April 16 incident is foggy because he’d been drinking, but agreed the evidence shows that he committed the felony crime.

“I imagine that I broke a window,” Opgrand said when asked how he broke into the AmericInn hotel.

Under the plea agreement, Opgrand will pay $300 in restitution and serve a jail sentence equivalent to 60 days with credit for good time. He has previously spent 20 days in custody.
