FARGO – North Dakota will receive $24.8 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation for various flood relief projects across the state, the state’s congressional delegation announced today.
The funding is part of the department’s Emergency Relief Program to help repair roads and other damage caused by flooding, according to a joint statement from Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Rep. Earl Pomeroy.
Of the $24.8 million, $16.8 million was awarded to areas affected by flooding near Devils Lake, $4 million was granted to the West James Basin area and $4 million went to the state.
The delegation said the funding appropriated by Congress will help the state recover from damage caused by flooding, heavy rains and blizzards during the spring.
