Maerz-Klosterman

Melissa Maerz and Chuck Klosterman, New York, announce their engagement.

Parents are Mike and Chrissy Maerz, Portland, Ore.; and William and Florence Klosterman, Wyndmere, N.D.

Melissa graduated in 1996 from Westview High School, Portland, and in 2000 graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in literary and critical theory. She writes for Rolling Stone, SPIN, Entertainment Weekly, Wired and the New York Times. She was arts editor of Minneapolis City Pages from 2001 to 2005.

Chuck graduated in 1990 from Wyndmere Public School and in 1994 graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He is a New York Times best-selling author of four nonfiction books and one novel. His sixth book, “Eating the Dinosaur,” will be released in October. He has written for Esquire, SPIN, the New York Times Magazine, The Guardian and ESPN. He was a reporter at The Forum from 1994 to 1998.

A Sept. 20 wedding and reception are planned at Nicollet Island Pavilion, Minneapolis.
