The swollen Red River crested Wednesday morning at 23.59 feet in Fargo-Moorhead and should drop to its flood stage of 18 feet by late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, the National Weather Service predicts.
The Red went over flood stage in the metro last weekend as runoff from October’s rain and snowmelt surged into tributaries and toward F-M.
The weather should keep river levels dropping today, with sunny skies and a high of 48 today.
Skies will remain a mix of plenty of sun and few clouds through Sunday, with a high of 56 on Friday, dropping to a high of 48 by Sunday. Overnight lows are in the mid-30s to 40 degrees.
