Claire & Evelyn Hermes

Claire and Evelyn (Geisen) Hermes, Fairmount, N.D., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday.

They were married Nov. 12, 1949, at St. Anthony‘s Catholic Church, Fargo.

Claire farmed near Fairmount for 70 years until he retired in 2008. Evelyn taught English and was a speech coach in Fairmount for 26 years, retiring in 1992.

They have seven children, Becki Hafner (Jerry Fogarty), Avon, Minn.; Claire (Don) Althoff, Mooreton N.D.; Pam Hermes (Frank Dooley), West Lafayette, Ind.; Greg (Lona) Hermes, Oakes, N.D.; Amy (Pat) Smellie, Shelby Township, Mich.; Laurie (Kipp) Hogan, Eastport, N.,Y.; and Mary (Greg) Dahl, Lake Tomahawk, Wis.; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
