VALLEY CITY, N.D. — Valley City's Main Street is open again.

The street was closed in March after a sewer breakdown, dike work and other problems related to spring flooding. On Saturday, the barriers were removed.

Kelly Tabor, who runs the Broken Spoke Family Restaurant & Saloon, said business has suffered from the street closing.

Tabor said that after he helped move away the "Road Closed" signs on Saturday, he was the first person to drive down the reopened Main Street.

Tabor said about 60 people with brooms — including city commissioners — swept the street and sidewalk after the signs and plastic sheets were removed.

He felt relief, and he said his business already is picking up.
