Forum readers: Light up our lives!

It’s the time of year when we feel the need to honor the people who light up our lives – literally. With December almost here, The Forum is bringing back its Griswold Award, honoring those people who cover their homes with lights during the holiday season.

It’s the time of year when we feel the need to honor the people who light up our lives – literally.

With December almost here, The Forum is bringing back its Griswold Award, honoring those people who cover their homes with lights during the holiday season.

Named after Clark Griswold, Chevy Chase’s holiday light-loving lunkhead from the “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” movie, the award will be given to a Fargo-Moorhead resident whose house most lights up his neighborhood.

But first we need to know which F-M people should be up for the award. We’re asking readers to nominate their friends, relatives or neighbors who exemplify the Griswold spirit by fitting their homes with enough lights and decorations to cause people to stare.

Readers can nominate people, or themselves, by uploading a video of the house’s display to Youtube.com and sending us a link. We’ll also accept

e-mailed photos of the homes.

Send all nominations to Life Editor Robert Morast. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 2.

The nominees will be featured on the Forum’s Web site – www.inforum.com – where readers can vote on the most impressive holiday display. The winning house will be featured in an upcoming edition of the paper and given the title of Griswold Award 2009.
