ST. PAUL — Two more people have died of the swine flu in Minnesota, but new statistics from the state Health Department show overall flu activity remains low.

The department reports today that two more deaths have been confirmed since Dec. 30. That brings the total number of confirmed swine flu deaths in the state to 54.

However, other indicators show the second wave of infections has largely abated. There were no outbreaks reported in schools last week for the second week in a row and only one person was hospitalized with a confirmed case of the swine flu.

Despite the lull, health officials urge residents to get vaccinated against the swine flu to head off a possible third wave of infections in the next few months.
