DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – A 36-year-old Detroit Lakes man faces a gross misdemeanor charge on allegations he mistreated a nursing home patient.

Quantel Emiel Morris, 36, is charged in Becker County District Court on a claim he stuffed a sock in a 98-year-old woman’s mouth while attending to her needs.

According to court records:

On Jan. 4 he was working at Sunnyside Nursing Center, where he was employed as a certified nursing assistant, and attending to the woman.

Another nursing assistant entered the room and saw Morris stuff the sock into the woman’s mouth.

When confronted, Morris said the woman wouldn’t quit hollering while he was changing her. The second nursing assistant immediately reported the incident.

The victim was visibly shaken, frightened and physically anxious for days after the incident, according to reports.

Morris is no longer employed at Sunnyside.

On Monday, District Judge Joe Evans issued an arrest warrant for Morris.
