United Way’s Green joins Sanford-MeritCare

Judy Green, president of the United Way of Cass-Clay, has resigned to become executive director of marketing for women’s services for Sanford Health-MeritCare.

Judy Green, president of the United Way of Cass-Clay, has resigned to become executive director of marketing for women’s services for Sanford Health- MeritCare.

“I really look forward to the opportunity of working at Sanford Health-MeritCare in a time of new and transforming strategies and goals,” said Green, who begins her new job on April 1.

The position represents a new combination of existing roles at Sanford Health-MeritCare, said Carrie Haug, MeritCare Health System public information officer.

“It will encompass a combination of public affairs in the Fargo-Moorhead market and a strategy to develop a comprehensive women’s services offering in Fargo-Moorhead and across the Sanford Health-MeritCare system,” Green said. “It was a position that was presented to me.”

Green was named president of the United Way of Cass-Clay in March 2008. Prior to that she was executive director of the YWCA Cass-Clay for four years.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed this position of leadership and service to our community,” Green said of the United Way position. “The experiences and relationships that I have gained in these two years are second to none.”

The United Way of Cass-Clay has created a search committee to find a new leader, said Mark Deraney, chairman of the organization’s board of trustees.

“Judy has created a very strong UWCC staff in her two-year tenure and the board of trustees is very confident in their abilities to sustain the work that’s been done and continue to move us forward,” Deraney said.

In 2007, Green became a member of the MeritCare Board of Trustees, before its merger with Sanford Health of Sioux Falls, S.D., in November. She has stepped down from that position, Haug said.

Green’s role in the Fargo-Moorhead community contributed to her hiring, not her role as a MeritCare trustee, Haug said.

No other MeritCare trustees have been hired by Sanford Health-MeritCare, Haug said.
