Engen out as MSUM men's hoops coach
Coach's contract not renewed after eight seasonsBy: Heath Hotzler, INFORUM
Stu Engen's contract was not renewed as head men's basketball coach at Minnesota State Moorhead on Thursday, ending an eight-year run at the helm of the Dragons.
Engen finished 102-120 at MSUM.
"I have been with MSUM for eight seasons. During this time we have had five athletic directors, and four head football coaches," Engen wrote in an e-mailed statement to The Forum. "It is my belief that it is disingenuous to pretend we are on a new path every time we make a coaching change, and it only deflects from the real issues of lack of administrative support when it comes to staffing and scholarships. This decision of non-renewal has been devastating to myself, my wife and our four children, and I ask for your prayers as we move forward."
