LITTLEFORK, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Health accuses a Littlefork nurse of acting with neglect after the death of an 85-year-old man who had been having trouble breathing.
The licensed practical nurse was employed by the Littlefork Medical Center. The health department’s report didn’t place blame for the September death on the medical facility.
The report doesn’t name the nurse. A spokesman for the facility told The Daily Journal of International Falls last week the nurse is still employed there.
The nurse told investigators the patient’s oxygen levels fell so she connected him to supplemental oxygen and checked on him periodically. He died a few hours later.
The report faults the nurse for failing to notify the physician, registered nurse on call or family.
