CDC: Minnesota ranks 8th in swine flu vaccinations

By: Associated Press, INFORUM

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - U.S. health officials say Minnesota ranked eighth in the nation in swine flu vaccinations and led the nation in vaccinating one at-risk group.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday released the first state-by-state report on turnout.

The report says 31 percent of Minnesotans six months of age or older received vaccination for pandemic swine flu. The average for all states combined was 24 percent.

Further, an estimated 47 percent of Minnesotans aged 25-64 with medical conditions that put them at risk for flu complications received the vaccine. That led the nation.

The CDC calculated state rates from two telephone surveys that included about 140,000 adults and nearly 75,000 children. The surveys covered vaccinations through January.
