About 500 people hit the pavement on Mother’s Day to show their support for survivors and victims of breast cancer.
The third annual Fargo-Moorhead Breast Cancer Walk kicked off late Sunday morning at the West Acres Shopping Center, Fargo. Participants – many wearing pink-ribbon shirts or sporting pink-ribbon signs – then walked three miles from the shopping center to the Schlossman YMCA and back. Some walkers opted for a shorter 1.7-mile route.
The event raised about $10,000, according to WDAY TV. These funds will benefit both the North Dakota affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and LIVESTRONG at the YWCA, a free wellness program designed to build strength and self-confidence in cancer survivors.
The event was organized and staffed by the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties. Other major sponsors included West Acres and Radio Fargo-Moorhead.
