Visits to North Dakota state parks up 6.7 percent from ’09

BISMARCK – North Dakota state parks have seen 401,394 visits from January through June, up 6.7 percent from last year.

BISMARCK – North Dakota state parks have seen 401,394 visits from January through June, up 6.7 percent from last year.

In June, parks recorded 108,808 visitors, an increase of nearly 4.9 percent from June 2009.

The number of campers is also up in 2010. Over the July Fourth weekend, 23,431 campers visited state parks, up 5.7 percent from last year. State park cabin use is also up 12.3 percent.

For specific parks, visitation is up 7.5 percent at Lake Sakakawea State Park, 10.8 percent at Fort Stevenson State Park, 26.7 percent at Lewis & Clark State Park and 2 percent at Grahams Island State Park.
