Highway 57 will remain closed for the evening. The NDDOT will assess the situation in the morning to determine if it can opened for safe travel.
An anonymous reader alerted us to video footage of the drive along Highway 57 south of Devils Lake. This stretch of the highway, referred to as "the narrows" was closed last night due to the the high waves. According to the information posted with the video, the wind gusts were reaching 50 miles per hour and producing waves up to 8 feet tall.
