Chamber endorses levy for Moorhead schools

The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce is endorsing the Moorhead Public Schools operating referendum.

Friday, board of directors unanimously approved supporting the referendum, which will ask voters on Tuesday to approve an $850 per pupil levy.

The chamber’s decision to support the levy was based on a number of reasons, including the economic impact of the education system, making an investment in youth and possible border cities legislation in Minnesota that would offset the tax impact to commercial and industrial businesses in Moorhead and Dilworth.

If passed, the operating levy will be in place for seven years, starting with the 2011-12 school year.
