ST. PAUL, Minn. — The American Cancer Society estimates a third of cancer deaths in Minnesota can be linked to obesity.

The Cancer Society says 9,000 people die from cancer every year in Minnesota. It's the number one killer in the state, surpassing heart attacks or strokes.

ACS Minnesota division spokeswoman Angie Rolle tells KARE-TV that the information from the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research provides an opportunity for those overweight or obese to take control of their health and reduce the risk factors.
