FARGO – The 6-year-old boy who was struck Friday by a car is recovering following surgery to repair a broken leg and left the hospital this afternoon.

Isaiah Northington was getting off his school bus at a stop near the Kmart in south Fargo when he was struck by a driver who failed to stop for the bus.

Dr. Tim Mahoney, chief of surgery at Essentia Health, said the boy is doing well following surgery, in which two pins were inserted into his right thigh bone, but will require physical therapy to heal fully.

His parents, Jennifer and Lester Northington, said they are thankful their son is recovering and that his injuries were not worse.

Isaiah, a student at Lincoln Elementary school, also suffered a concussion when his head struck the ground when he landed.
