FARGO – Microsoft is opening its Fargo campus for determined young women for DigiGirlz High Tech Camp 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. though Thursday.
One hundred girls from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Tennessee and Florida were chosen to participate in this camp, which involves a variety of activities and speakers.
Emily Price, a program manager on Microsoft’s Xbox team, will lead the girls in three sessions on how to create a Kinect program of their own, according to the press release.
Microsoft hopes to increase the number of young women involved in technology-focused careers and set an example for other corporations.
“We believe that each year this camp helps break down any barriers the girls may perceive between themselves and a successful and fulfilling future in the high-tech industry,” Microsoft spokesperson Katie Hasbargen stated in the press release.
