GRAND FROKS - Red Pepper in Grand Forks has been named one of Esquire's Best places for late-night food in the nation. Its famous ham grinder is putting the restaurant on that list.

The Esquire article gives shout-outs to other local businesses that contribute to the taste of the grinder, like Hugo's Bakery and L&M Meats.

"This is the best grinder I’ve ever had," said first-time customer Bret Kasel. "I'd say it's the best in the world. The bread is so nice and soft, the meat is all done; it’s all melty cheese... just delicious.”

Jeff Tellmann owns both Red Pepper locations in town. He says being one of the 24 nominations was a welcome surprise.

"It was a real surprise," he said. "I'm real excited about it. We didn't know what it would be. I'm surprised to be at the top of the list.”
