BISMARCK — A man accused of robbing a bank in western North Dakota and calling police three days later to turn himself in has been arraigned in federal court.
Kent Clemens pleaded not guilty Friday to bank robbery. Trial was scheduled for Oct. 30 in Bismarck.
The 53-year-old Clemens is accused of holding up the Gate City Bank in Williston on July 18. He allegedly called 911 from his home in Kansas on July 21 and told officers to arrest him for "making a mistake."
Authorities say Clemens was sitting on his front porch when police arrived and held out his hands to be handcuffed.
Court documents show that Clemens made off with about $700.
A representative with the federal public defender's office was not immediately available for comment.
