Thursday review: Noosa Yoghurt soothes rhubarb craving

I was thrilled to see strawberry rhubarb yogurt by Noosa Finest Yoghurt on the shelf at Target ($2.39 for an 8-ounce tub).

I’ve never had strawberry rhubarb yogurt before, but Noosa’s creamy version didn’t disappoint.

The sweet-tart strawberry-rhubarb mixture sits under a cap of sweet yogurt. Once mixed, it reminded me of rhubarb pudding with cream – one of my very favorite rhubarb treats. I was happy that the strawberry flavor didn’t mask the tangy freshness of the rhubarb.

I learned from Noosa’s website that Noosa Yoghurt, named for the popular vacation spot in Queensland, Australia, is produced in Colorado with rGBH-free cow’s milk, local honey and fresh, natural fruit. Not only does the yogurt taste like rhubarb and cream, but I can feel good about eating it.

The ingredient list, another important factor for me when determining what to buy, is short (only nine ingredients total), and I could pronounce everything.

Each tub contains two servings, and you’ll want to mind that fact since each serving has 10 grams of sugar.

While Noosa’s Strawberry Rhubarb Yoghurt isn’t guilt-free, it’s a delicious indulgence that’s less fattening than cream and rhubarb pudding.

I won’t be turning down my Grandma’s rhubarb pudding anytime soon, but Noosa will do the trick while rhubarb is out of season.
