SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Dakotas-based Sanford Health is getting $2.4 million from a charitable trust established by the late hotel and real estate baroness Leona Helmsley to upgrade heart care at hospitals in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen.
The money from the Helmsley Charitable Trust will help pay for about half of a robotic system to place catheters, stents and angioplasty balloons.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved the procedure. The equipment is to be installed in the first half of next year.
Sanford Health is based in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Fargo.
