A Germans from Russia food culture cookbook project recently received financial support from two Wishek, N.D., businesses.
A subcommittee of the Tri-County Tourism Alliance, of Emmons, Logan and McIntosh counties in North Dakota, has been collecting oral interviews, recipes and photos of food for historical archives. In October, Security State Bank presented the group with a gold sponsorship. Wishek Manufacturing became a platinum donor in December. A grant from the North Dakota State Historical Society helped pay for the interview and photo collection, though volunteers have done most of the work.
If enough money is raised, a coffee table book will be published by June 2013.
A Tri-County Tourism Alliance representative is available to present information about the cookbook project to area groups. The alliance’s annual meeting is 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at Rueben’s Restaurant in Napoleon, N.D.
