FARGO – Sanford Health in Fargo was one of six neonatal intensive care units to receive $5,000 worth of breastfeeding support products through Medela, Inc.’s Virtual Human Milk Donation Campaign to demonstrate the importance of breast milk.

Breast milk is critical to helping premature babies combat potentially fatal diseases. Human milk has also shown to improve the overall health of premature babies better than formulated milk. Nearly half a million babies are born prematurely in the U.S. each year.

The donated products include breast pumps, waterless milk warmers and baby scales.
