M. Leonard Bailey, 75, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, January 10, 2013.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 14 at 11AM in the Congregational Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held at the Congregational Church on Sunday, January 13 from 3PM until 5PM with a Prayer Service at 5PM.

Morris Leonard Bailey was born November 11, 1937 in Hillsboro, ND. He graduated from the Crookston Ag School and enrolled at Mayville State College. After earning his bachelor's degree in education, Leonard taught school in Gilby, ND for three years. In 1958, Leonard was united in marriage to Dianne Kaldor. In 1962 they moved to Detroit Lakes where Leonard was employed with Federal Land Bank (now called Ag Country Farm Credit Services) retiring in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting and was also a sports enthusiast and avid Detroit Lakes Laker fan. He was an active member of the Congregational Church and a longtime member of the Detroit Lakes Fire Department. Leonard was a devoted husband, father and "grandpa" and wholeheartedly demonstrated his love for his wife, children and grandchildren.

Leonard will be remembered and missed by his wife of 54 years, Dianne of Detroit Lakes, children: Sandra (John) Weekley of Collegeville, PA, Leasha Bailey of Germantown, TN, Sue (Michael) Dahring of Detroit Lakes and Gwen (Pat) Arechigo of Sioux Falls, SD along with four grandsons, three granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister: Margie Peterson of Lakota, ND, special cousin: Rita (Paul) Viker of Halstad, MN and brother-in-laws: Tom Skarp and Ron Stuart.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Olive Bailey, uncle: George Bird and sisters: Vernita Stuart and Edith Skarp.

David Donehower Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
