Shirley (Rorvig) Danforth

Shirley (Rorvig) Danforth, 83, died on February 5th, 2013 in Southern California of a heart attack, She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mervin Danforth, who died in April 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Oscar Rorvig of Binford, North Dakota, Mervin's parents, Florence and Verne Danforth and Mervin's sister, Muriel Danforth.

Shirley was born and raised in Binford, ND. Upon graduating from high school she pursued her nursing degree and met her future husband, Mervin, while in nursing school. She proudly worked as a registered nurse, retiring from Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Oscar Rorvig of Binford, North Dakota, Mervin's parents, Florence and Verne Danforth and Mervin's sister, Muriel Danforth.

Shirley was born and raised in Binford, ND. Upon graduating from high school she pursued her nursing degree and met her future husband, Mervin, while in nursing school. She proudly worked as a registered nurse, retiring from Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.

Shirley avidly pursued her interests in golf, bridge, shopping and travel. In addition, she volunteered in many ways over the years- as a nurse for Planned Parenthood and the Methadone Maintenance clinic, and in many capacities for her church of more than 50 years, West Anaheim United Methodist.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Sherman Rorvig and his wife Donna, and her sister, Dorothy Bjorlie and their families. Additionally, she is survived by her son, Gregory Danforth of Flagstaff, AZ, her daughter Lisa Danforth-Lewis of Puyallup, WA, as wells as Shirley's only grandchild, Alexandria (Lewis) Alston and her husband John Alston who reside in West Seattle, WA.

A celebration of life/memorial service will be held at West Anaheim United Methodist Church, 2045 W. Ball Road, Anaheim, CA 92804-5414, on Friday, February 15th at 2 pm. The internment will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery in a private family service.
