Funeral Services for Sara Jane LePard of Roseau will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau with a devotional service at 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the church.

Sara Jane Douglas was born on October 28, 1971 in Roseau, MN to John and Margie (Haugen) Douglas. She was baptized and confirmed at Pinecreek Lutheran Church. She graduated from Roseau High School with honors in 1990. Sara attended The University of North Dakota for three years before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She graduated from UW-RF in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Sara passed the CPA exam to fulfill her goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

Sara Jane Douglas was born on October 28, 1971 in Roseau, MN to John and Margie (Haugen) Douglas. She was baptized and confirmed at Pinecreek Lutheran Church. Sara met Wayne LePard in 1991 at Pathways Bible Camp in Menahga, Cass Lake, and Baudette, MN. They were counselors for Pathways for three years. They enjoyed taking high school youngsters on boating trips to the islands of Rainy Lake, Ontario to provide worship and fun. Sara and Wayne were married on June 19, 1993 at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. They moved some when they were first married and settled in Red Wing for two years, Moorhead for two years, Isle for one year, Hawley for eleven years, all prior to settling in Roseau three years ago. Sara was active in the Hawley Women of Today, was a Sunday School Teacher at Hawley Lutheran Church, and was a current member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she was the youth group treasurer. They have four boys Jacob, Adam, Mason, and Ben.

Sara worked as a CPA for Eide Bailey in Fargo for ten years, as well as accounting firms in the Twin Cities, Vanity in Fargo, Hogenson Construction in Fargo, then at Vision Bank in Fargo where she worked a short time prior to starting treatments. She made many wonderful friends over the course of her career. Sara loved the business end of her jobs. In 2010, a dream came true for Sara when she opened her own business, a scrap booking store in Roseau, called Memories Scrapbook Supply.

Sara loved her beloved Roseau Rams. At Roseau High School, Sara was voted by her classmates as "most likely to succeed" in the class of 1990. Sara played on the Ram volleyball team, played tenor saxophone in Band and Jazz Band, and was voted as first attendant to the homecoming queen. During her high school years, Sara worked at Ben Franklin in Roseau and was active in 4-H. Sara loved camping, canoeing, boating, movies, playing games with her children, playing piano, reading books and visiting with friends and family. Everyone Sara met was a friend. Sara loved scrap booking and enjoyed cross-stitching with many of these projects given to others as keepsakes. Sara, Wayne, and the boys enjoyed traveling, especially hiking in several of the national parks, and spent a lot of time enjoying Itasca State Park. Sara loved rollerblading, swimming, biking and snowmobiling. The family cabin at Portage Lake at Park Rapids is filled with everlasting memories for all. Sara was the center of her family and they were her life.

Sara Jane (Douglas) LePard passed away on Sunday, February 10 at her home in Roseau. Sara was 41 years old. Sara inspired so many people with her courageous battle of three years with metastatic breast cancer. Sara is our hero and will be remembered as such by many people.

Sara is survived by her husband Wayne LePard of Roseau; four sons: Jacob (14), Adam (12), Mason (10), and Ben (7) LePard; Parents, John and Margie of Roseau; brothers Eric (K.C.) Douglas of Roseau, Aaron (Christa) Douglas of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Michael Douglas of Omaha, NE; nieces and nephews, Madison, Kaia, John Ross, and William Douglas, Sophia and Grayson Douglas, Chantel and Sadie Sheppard, and Kyle, Bryan and Ryleigh Sheppard; brothers-in-law, Travis (Jessica) Sheppard, Matthew (Anna) Sheppard; mother-in-law, Yvonne Sheppard, grandmother-in-law Mildred Weiss, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sara is preceded in death by her sister Lora Leigh Douglas, grandparents Clifford and Doris Haugen, John and Mary Douglas, and aunt Mary Jean Borst.

Her candlelight will shine forever

Blessed be the memory of Sara.
