FARGO – The North Dakota Department of Transportation has issued a travel alert for the southeast region of the state.

The alert includes Hillsboro, Fargo, Wahpeton and surrounding areas. High winds are causing blowing snow to stick to the roadways, creating areas of scattered ice.

Multiple crashes and rollovers have been reported in the area today.

Motorists can still travel in the areas that have a travel alert, but should be advised that conditions could change rapidly, according to the press release from the NDDOT.

Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to conditions.

A travel alert has the potential to change to a no travel advised warning if conditions deteriorate.
