Diane Betty Gayle (Gangness) Kambeitz unexpectedly departed this world on February 15, 2013 at Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 21, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 pm at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 20, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm.

Diane was born February 1, 1947, to Melvin and Lena “Bobbi” (Jodock) Gangness at Fargo, ND. She was raised on a farm near Harwood, ND, and was one of the last graduates of the one-room country school Berlin 31-1. She was a member of the Prosper Pixies and Prosper Livestock 4-H clubs and Herby Lutheran Church. Diane was awarded many honors as a 4-H member, including first place in the State Demonstration Contest. She attended high school at Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo.

She lived in Harwood and Fargo, ND, until 1987 when she married Mel Kambeitz and moved to Bismarck, ND. While living in Fargo she was active in Beta Sigma Phi Social/Service Sorority and Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. Diane also served on the Board of Regents for Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo.

In the 1990’s, Diane and Mel served as Folkfest chair couple and in 1997 served as chair couple for Governor Ed Schafer’s Inaugural Reception and Ball.

Diane was employed at the Greater North Dakota Association and the North Dakota Securities Dept. Diane was a key leader in the education programs at both GNDA and the ND Securities Dept. Diane retired in 2010.

Diane was a very organized person and was known for her decorating skills. She kept a meticulous house and her dress and style always reflected the latest fashion. She loved her family deeply, and the creative inspirations she could effortlessly produce will be deeply missed.

Diane is survived by her husband, Mel of Bismarck; brother, Ron (Arlene) Gangness of Bismarck; sister, Jan (Dan) McCarthy of Duluth, MN; sons, Dennis Mjoness of Fargo, Anthony (Jenna Vondrachek) Kambeitz of Bismarck, and Mark (Samantha) Kambeitz of West Fargo; daughters, Dionne Kambeitz of California; Paula (Kevin) Huber of Bismarck; grandchildren: Danielle, Ashley, and Ben Mjoness of Fargo; Dawson and Carson Huber of Bismarck; Trae, Kyan and Kennedy Kambeitz of West Fargo; Tyson Carlson-Kambeitz of Mandan; Tayla Gange of Mandan; and Haley Visger of Bismarck; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.

Preceding her in death were her parents and sister-in-law, Shirley Gangness.

Memorials may be given to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
