Stella B. Kappel, age 85, passed away peacefully with family at her side April 10, 2013 in Parkside Nursing Home at Lisbon, ND.

Stella Bernadine Hanson was born June 4, 1927 to Bennie and Silvie Hanson on their farm in Aliceton Township in Ransom County. She had a sister Alice and two brothers Bernie and Robert. She attended the rural Aliceton School for 11 years and then graduated from Lisbon High School in 1945. Stella attended Valley City State College and received a teaching certificate. She taught elementary grades at both Aliceton and Fort Ransom Schools.

Stella married Jerome Kappel on October 28, 1950 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Valley City. They started their married life living in Valley City. In 1954 they moved to Lisbon and became lifelong residents. They had 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Stella was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and altar society. She was a 30 year member of the Lisbon TOPS club and a member of the Ransom County Senior Citizen's Club. She loved to dance, play cards and bake goodies. She was "Little Grandma" to family and "Little Bit" to friends.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings.

Stella is survived by sons Larry (Pam) of North Pole, AK, Rick of Grapevine, TX, and daughter Barb (Warren) Anderson of Lisbon, grandsons Ryan Kappel, Tony Kappel, Kelly (Kayla) Kappel, Jamie (Traci) Anderson, Tyler Anderson, and granddaughters Trisha (Josh) Vargas and Stacey (Michael) Witte.

Visitation:Sunday, April 14th from 5-7 PM at Armstrong Funeral Home in Lisbon

Prayer service will be Sunday, April 14th at 7:00 PM at the Armstrong Funeral Home

Funeral:Monday, April 15th at 10:30 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon.
