Thursday review: Mix-ins add crunch to Greek yogurt

FARGO – I prefer ice cream packed with things like crunchy pecans and chewy bits of chocolate chip cookie dough. Yogurt’s no different.

The more add-ins, the better.

So when I spotted popular Greek yogurt brand Chobani’s new line of yogurt with mix-ins like graham cracker and chocolate chips, I jumped at the chance to try it.

Since switching from regular to Greek yogurt a few months ago for the thicker texture and added protein, I’ve been having fun sampling different brands and flavors.

Available in six flavors and on sale for $1 each at Target, the packets are called Flip, presumably for the action required to dump the extras into the yogurt.

I tried the Almond Coco Loco, Raspberry Choco Fix and Key Lime Crumble for my “al desco” breakfast.

The best of the three was the Almond – coconut yogurt with toasted almonds and dark chocolate chips.

I loved the flavor combination of the Raspberry Choco Fix’s vanilla chocolate chip yogurt with raspberry sauce, but it lacked the satisfying crunch the others provided.

However, I have three more flavors to try, so we’ll see if the Almond Coco Loco stays at No. 1.
