FARGO – Now that school’s out for many students, parents may be wondering how to fill all those long summer days, especially the rainy ones.

Last year, I heard about a neat program that lets children bowl for free all summer long.

Through KidsBowlFree.com, parents can receive e-mailed coupons for two free games of bowling every day at local bowling alleys for their kids.

About 1,000 bowling alleys across the U.S. and Canada participate. Locally, West Acres Bowl in Fargo is one of five centers in North Dakota that takes part in the program.

Each business sets its own guidelines. At West Acres Bowl, kids age 15 and under can participate, and the two free games are good each day June 1 through Aug. 31. Bowling shoes are available for rent, or a summer shoe pass is $10.

It’s free to sign up for KidsBowlFree.com, but the website also offers a $24.95 Family Pass, which allows up to 4 adult family members two free games of bowling each day. The family pass can only be used when bowling with the registered children.

I registered my daughter, Eve, last year. Registration does not carry over year to year, so I signed her up again last week.
