Richard Allen Lande, 63, of Mayville, ND passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard the son of William "Bill" and Frances Lande of Mayville ND, born August 17, 1949 at Union Hospital Mayville ND. He attended Lindaas School until the 5th grade then attended Mayville High School. After high school he worked in Fargo for a short time at A-Transmission City. While in Fargo Richard raced cars for Ernie Brookings and enjoyed that very much.

On May 9th, 1970 he married the love of his life Carol Pladson at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND. Together they made their home in Mayville. When he returned to Mayville he worked at GTA elevator and then for the next 42 years he was a devoted employee of Mayville Farmers Elevator and later named May-Port Farmers Co-op. He was an active member of the Mayville Fire Department for 30 years and became a lifetime member. Richard was on the Mayville Park Board, a member of Mayville Lutheran Church which he also served on the church council and also taught his daughters Sunday school class. He was also a member of Portland Credit Union Board and a member of the Masons Goose River Lodge #19.

Richard found something he loved and was passionate about, he became an Auctioneer in 2004. He then began Lande and Associates Auction Company on Main Street in Mayville, which was his love having all his family working with him side by side.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Carol (Pladson) Lande of 43 years, daughters Christina ( Mike) Willison of Hillsboro, ND, Jennifer (Cole) Neset of Fargo, ND. His grandchildren, which he adored, Barrett and Evelyn Willison and Halle and Reed Neset. His grandchildren were so loved by Richard and so very important to him, the loves of his life along with his wife and daughters. Sisters Kathy Kroeplin of Finley, ND and Mary (Dr. Eric) Swensen of Fargo, ND and Brother David (Dori) Lande of Galesburg, ND. Mother-in-law Gudrun Pladson of Hatton, ND. Sister-in-law Janice (Dennis) Finell of Green Bay, WI. Several cousins, nieces and nephews who were all very dear to his heart.

Richard was diagnosed with lung cancer September 2012. Enduring pain for many months through his journey with cancer, Richard had an unbelievable spirit to never give up, he never complained, never quit fighting and never gave up fighting until the end. Something his family and friends will forever hold with them. Richard was the kindest man you would ever meet. Always gentle, caring, never saying a negative word about a fellow human. Believing strongly and teaching his girls that each person no matter backgrounds, rich or poor were very special. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone helping people down on their luck. Richard was also very strong in his faith. Guiding and teaching his girls how to have unconditional love and faith in the Lord. This love he had for the Lord guided and followed him all thru his life.

God Bless the memory of Richard Lande.
