BISMARCK — This year's edition of the North Dakota Local Foods Directory is now available from the state Department of Agriculture.
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the 48-page publication lists more than 125 local food providers, from farmers markets to roadside stands to pick-your-own gardens. He says it's a guidebook for finding everything from fresh produce to meats and jams.
The directory also includes a harvest calendar to help consumers determine the best times of the growing season to buy locally grown food and bedding plants. North Dakota State University horticulturalist Ron Smith developed the calendar.
The directory is free. Information on obtaining one can be found at http://www.nd.gov/ndda/.
