Hungry for More: Crème brulee an easy, elegant dessert

On “Hungry for More,” we like to take you into area restaurants and give you a behind-the-scenes look at the food you enjoy.

Chefs like to show us their culinary skills while giving you tips and recipes to try at home.

This week, Chef Scott Motschenbacher at the Beefsteak Club in Fargo shows us an easy and crowd-favorite dessert, crème brulee.

Not only that, but he puts an impressive citrus twist on the traditional French dessert.

Crème brulee

Ingredients

12 egg yolks

Zest of a lemon, lime and 2 oranges

1 cup of sugar

1 quart heavy whipping cream

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions

Mix ingredients together.

Bring heavy whipping cream with vanilla extract to a slow simmer. Slowly add to egg mixture.

Bake for one-hour in a water bath in a 350-degree oven. Cool in refrigerator.

Sprinkle sugar on top and lightly caramelize with a kitchen torch.
