Lois Marie Wait was born October 17, 1918 in Fergus Falls, MN to Chauncy and Alice (Ostlund) Wait. At the time of her birth, her father was in France serving as a Supply Sargent in WWI. After he returned home in 1919, the family moved to Hannaford, ND where he owned a Mobil Oil gas station and bulk delivery franchise. Lois graduated from Hannaford High School in 1936 and then entered St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, ND where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She then worked in Crookston, MN and Fargo.

Lois was united in marriage to Wesley Cronk May 31, 1940 in Moorhead, MN. They lived in Detroit Lakes, MN for a number of years and then moved to California where Wesley worked for the City of Westminster and Lois worked for the Bank of America. Following their retirement, they spent winters in California and summers at Lake Melissa near Detroit Lakes. Later, they moved back to Detroit Lakes full time. At the time of Wesley's death, December 17, 2005, they had been married 65 years.

Lois was always active in church and charitable organizations. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Lois was very talented. She loved to knit and crochet. She taught herself the skill as a young wife. She knitted scarves and gloves for the troops during WWII. In 1992, she won the first place award for her knitted Afghan at the Herschners Grand National Afghan Exhibition in Des Moines, IA and Grand Champion at the Becker County Fair in Detroit Lakes. She was always donating articles and Afghans to bazaars at church and charitable organizations as well as to family and friends. Lois was an avid reader, a faithful letter writer, a dyed-in-the-wool crossword puzzle fan and also enjoyed jig saw puzzles and word games.

Lois was a joy to visit with. She always had interesting things to talk about; even the silly things. She will be dearly missed by her family. She was a loving mother and caring friend.
