FARGO – Health and technology entrepreneurs will get a stage to “pitch” their innovative ideas involving health and wellness at an event next Thursday at Island Park.

Health Pitch is hosted by Family HealthCare of Fargo and the keynote speaker will be Scott Harrison, founder of charity:water, an international nonprofit that provides water for poor communities around the world.

At least 15 innovators will make three-minute presentations to present their idea or product, said Patricia Patrón, Family HealthCare’s chief executive and one of the emcees of the event. James Burgum of Arthur Ventures in Fargo is the other emcee.

“This is the first of its kind in Fargo,” she said. The aim of the program is to give a platform for new ideas and to spur innovation and networking.

Topics include mobile health care applications, “sustainable” dentistry, community exercise engagement and new medical technologies.

Demonstrations will take place during breaks, allowing attendees the opportunity for hands-on experiences.

Representatives of firms or organizations that will be presenting pitches include Intelligent InSites, Preventice, North Dakota State University, Concordia College, Sanford Health and Trinity Regional Medical Center.

“We’ve got a lot of community leaders that are making this happen,” Patrón said. Dakota Medical Foundation is providing support.

Intelligent InSites, based in Fargo, produces mobile technology that allows health providers to track equipment, supplies and patients to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

“It will be interesting to show what we’ve got in just three minutes,” said Joanna Wyganowska, Intelligent InSite’s director of marketing.

“We will be showing how it’s used in real life,” she said, adding that the technology is used at Family HealthCare in Fargo and will be in all Veterans Affairs medical centers around the country.

The presentation also will note that the firm offers professional job opportunities for college graduates, including 20 current openings, Wyganowska said.

Organizers hope the event catches on, and will showcase innovations originating in Fargo-Moorhead.

“We’re hoping this will be an annual event,” Patrón said.
