MENOKEN, N.D. — Authorities are testing a raccoon for rabies after a 9-year-old Menoken boy was bitten on the hand.

MENOKEN, N.D. — Authorities are testing a raccoon for rabies after a 9-year-old Menoken boy was bitten on the hand.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1e6WT1R ) that Burleigh County Sheriff's Office deputies met with the family of the boy at Sanford Health Wednesday after he was bitten by the animal near his home.

Deputies on Thursday morning captured and killed the animal after it was trapped at the property.

Local health officials are testing the raccoon for rabies.
