WASHINGTON — Sen. John Hoeven says a delay in some requirements of the Affordable Care Act won't fix the problems with it.

WASHINGTON — Sen. John Hoeven says a delay in some requirements of the Affordable Care Act won't fix the problems with it.

President Barack Obama announced Thursday that health insurance companies can continue to sell policies canceled under the act for at least one more year to existing customers.

But Hoeven says companies still have to comply with "Obamacare," so it's unlikely they'll be able to reinstate policies that already have been cancelled, and the delay is only for a year.

The North Dakota Republican says more than 5 million policies have been cancelled nationwide, including more than 35,000 in North Dakota.
