Tuesday tip: Use a slow cooker to keep bark ready for dipping

FARGO – Some people are last-minute holiday shoppers; I’m an eleventh-hour baker.

So naturally I’m always looking for ways to save time (and reduce the number of dishes that need to be washed).

This weekend as I dipped candies and twirled pretzels in dark and milk chocolate, I was thankful for a tip I’d seen on Pinterest.

Fill a crockpot – large or small, depending on how many goodies you’re planning – with about an inch of water, and turn the temperature to medium to start warming the water.

In the microwave, temper your chocolate and flavored barks one at a time in glass Mason jars, heating for 30 seconds and stirring repeatedly until melted.

Place each jar carefully in the crockpot so each is halfway submerged. Add water if needed.

The slow cooker will keep each jar warm, making your bark the perfect consistency for hours of dipping.

If you need a bigger vessel for your chocolate, I also tried this using a Pyrex bowl, which worked just as well as jars.
