FARGO – Nothing beats fresh homemade eggnog, but at least one organic variety comes in a close second.
The Organic Valley Eggnog I recently received was a nice surprise wrapped in freezer packs sent from the Wisconsin-based company.
The dairy-case drink is available from October to January in $5 32-ounce cartons.
It was named “The Best Eggnog You Can Buy” by Esquire in 2012 and continues to top taste tests, for good reason.
The USDA certified-organic eggnog is made with organic milk and eggs blended with organic and fair-trade sugar, vanilla and nutmeg.
You can taste the difference.
Try mixing Organic Valley Eggnog with rum or using it in a recipe like Spiced Eggnog Cheesecake with Gingersnap Crust. Recipes available online at www.organicvalley.coop.
Organic Valley doesn’t use GMO feed, antibiotics, synthetic hormones or toxic pesticides, but its eggnog is still rich, with 180 calories and 10 grams of fat per half-cup, so sip in moderation.
