Maynard “Chip” Johnson Jr., 53, Fargo, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 in his home under the care of Hospice of Red River Valley.

Survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Mary Johnson; daughter Heather Brees and son, Brandon and Tina Johnson; grandchildren, Hope, Ethan and Abby; parents, Maynard Sr. and Eileen Johnson; siblings, Dean and Carmen Johnson, Wendy and Tony Sturre and LaChelle Johnson.

Maynard “Chip” Johnson Jr., 53, Fargo, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 in his home under the care of Hospice of Red River Valley.

Survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Mary Johnson; daughter Heather Brees and son, Brandon and Tina Johnson; grandchildren, Hope, Ethan and Abby; parents, Maynard Sr. and Eileen Johnson; siblings, Dean and Carmen Johnson, Wendy and Tony Sturre and LaChelle Johnson.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Connard and Katie Johnson, Irene Fowlick and Irvin Fowlick.

Chip was born in Moorhead, MN and graduated from Moorhead Senior High School. Chip met his wife, Mary, in 1980 and moved to Fargo, where they made their home on 2nd Avenue. Their neighbors became some of their lifelong friends. Chip made a living working for the City of Fargo, as a heavy equipment operator at the landfill. Everyone referred to him as the “King of Compost”. Chip enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, golfing, and bowling. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly.

Visitation: Sunday, February 9th from 3 to 5 PM with prayer service at 5 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Funeral: Monday at 10 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery - North, Fargo.
