Audrey L. Helmeke
Audrey L. Helmeke, 83, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, died on Tuesday, November 20, 2001, in the nursing home.
Audrey Lucillle Mandsager was born August 2, 1918, to John and Hazel (Knox) Mandsager in Ada, MN, and grew up on a farm in Viding Township. She graduated from Felton (MN) High School in 1936, and received her BA degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1940. She taught at Morgan, MN, from 1940-41, LeSeuer, MN, from 1941-44, and Fargo, ND, from 1944-49. On August 14, 1947, she married Harold Helmeke in Georgetown, MN. They lived in Fargo until 1949 when they moved to Audrey's parents' farm, where they farmed until their retirement in 1979. In 1987 they moved to Moorhead.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Kay D. (Jim) Hockett, Moorhead; and two grandchildren, Matt, Minneapolis, MN, and Angie, Moorhead.
Visitation: Friday, November 23rd, from 4-6:00 PM in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. Also one hour before the service in the church.
Service: Saturday, November 24th, at 10:00 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Interment: Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead.
The family requests memorials be given to Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
